Exercise Overview

The lat pulldown is a compound back exercise that targets the lats and upper back through a vertical pulling motion. It allows controlled resistance and adjustable weight, making it ideal for beginners and those working toward improving pull-up strength.

How To Do It

1. Setup

Sit at the lat pulldown machine and secure your thighs under the pads. Grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder width with an overhand grip.

2. Starting Position

Sit tall with your chest lifted and arms fully extended overhead.

3. Execution

Pull the bar down toward your upper chest by driving your elbows downward and squeezing your shoulder blades together.

4. Return

Slowly allow the bar to rise back to the starting position under control, keeping tension in your back muscles.
