- Muscle Group: Legs (Hamstrings)
- Training Type: Isolation
- Equipment: Leg Curl Machine
- Difficulty: Beginner
Exercise Overview
The leg curl is an isolation exercise that targets the hamstrings by flexing the knees against resistance. Using a machine allows for controlled movement and consistent tension, making it effective for strengthening the back of the legs and supporting knee stability.
How To Do It
1. Setup
Adjust the leg curl machine so the pad rests just above your ankles. Lie face down or sit depending on the machine type.
2. Starting Position
Extend your legs fully and grip the handles for stability. Keep your hips pressed into the seat or pad.
3. Execution
Curl your legs by bending your knees and pulling the pad toward your glutes. Squeeze the hamstrings at the top.
4. Return
Lower the weight slowly back to the starting position under control, maintaining tension.
